Following studies on vitamin K2 products in the U.S. and Germany, ingredient supplier Balchem, which specializes in the production of vitamin K2, tested several vitamin K2 products sold on online platforms in Poland and noted a need to improve the stability and purity of products in this market.

Poland was selected due to its dynamic testing landscape and high consumer expectations. The country’s supplement market is growing at a projected compound annual growth rate of 8.51% from 2025 to 2029, Balchem reported.

The company collaborated with a certified third-party laboratory to conduct assay and isometric purity tests on dietary supplements containing vitamin K2 in the form of MK-7. Without providing exact details, Balchem reported that there is a valuable opportunity for manufacturers and vitamin K2 suppliers to work together to raise quality standards and create more efficacious solutions.

“Vitamin K2 is a powerful nutrient and its full potential depends on ingredient quality and stability,” said Lena Leder, PhD, nutrition science manager at Balchem Human Nutrition and Health. “That’s because all-trans isomers have elevated carboxylative activity, enabling the activation of vitamin K-dependent proteins, a crucial step in delivering the health benefits consumers expect from vitamin K2. With Balchem’s market research, we wish to reinforce the importance of rigorous testing to achieve formulation excellence. And we’re committed to this standard too with our K2Vital ingredient, a patented, typically 99.7% all-trans K2 MK-7 ingredient. With over 400 stability tests conducted, K2Vital consistently demonstrates exceptional purity and superior performance. This level of quality helps brands deliver reliable, science-backed products to consumers.”

Balchem also developed K2Vital Delta, a microencapsulated vitamin K2 preparation designed for complex formulations. The double-coated beadlet technology preserves K2’s potency and stability in mineral-rich environments, improving efficacy and shelf life.

“Our mission is to empower supplement brands with the tools and ingredients they need to succeed,” said Leder. “By investing in innovation and transparency, we’re helping the market evolve together, in Poland and beyond.”
